Sometimes a story, like a romantic interlude, gets abandoned.

So every time I finish a novel, it’s because I have fallen in love

and become a besotted servant to the characters 

and to the places they take me to that are lit with their ambiance, 

their pleasure and their pain.  When I transcribe for them, 

whatever it is they want to say, I’m following them down 

a path that I have no idea where it will lead, until the journey is over 

and I am once again faced with an empty page.
